I was on the Ehousehub Twitter this morning and I came across some really cool home improvement blog posts. One in particular was the home improvement blog post, Effective swimming Pool Landscape Design Tips . Reading the post inspired me to go and take a video of my own pool landscaping. Now I did not do our swimming pool landscape design, since we only bought our current home less than three years ago. However, I have worked as a landscape contractor, so I do know that our landscaping, especially around the pool is pretty nice.

The Plants are spaced very nicely, and there seems to be something blooming at all times of the useable swimming pool season. I think it is really important that when you are out enjoying the pool, you can enjoy the natural surroundings.

Since our pool is located in a very remote area, we don’t require a privacy hedge like many pool owners might desire. I have seen many pools that are surrounded by a tall hedge of arbs or bushes. Ours is just surrounded by our yard, which is then surrounded by fields. We do however have a split rail fence that might have been put in by a PA fencing Company or by the previous owners.

When doing your swimming pool landscaping, as with most landscaping, keep in mind that your mature landscape design will not reach its maximum growth for 2-3 years, so be sure that plants are given ample space to grow. Most landscape contractors have landscape design software that allows them to put in many different arrangements of plants to see what the landscape design will look like when all the plants have reached their maximum growth. This also will allow you to see what a variety of landscape designs will look like around your swimming pool.

Questions to ask your Swimming Pool Landscape Contractor

How many years until the plants mature?

Are the plants hardy enough to withstand pool chemicals?

Will there be plants blooming for the entire swimming pool season?

When do you need to do pruning?

How often do you need to mulch?

Watering instructions

Fertilizing instructions
