Why review Barkoff on a Home Improvement Blog? Well, if there is a product and it can make your home more enjoyable, then that would be a home improvement would it not? I myself hate having a dog that is continually barking. Not only does it annoy those living in the home of the dog, but it potentially could cause some tension between the neighbors as well.

How does BarkOff work?

The Bark Off has a about a 20 foot diameter radius of working area, but is does not need to be attached to a wall or anything, so it can easily be moved to within ear shot of your barking dog or your neighbors barking dogs for that matter.
The Barkoff runs on a 9 volt battery, but I see that you can buy an optional power charger so it could be a direct charge device.

You switch the device on and choose a high or low power setting. When the dog barks, he hears this high pitched noise which disrupts his barking. When he stops barking the sound stops. When he starts barking the high pitched sound only dogs can hear starts again. Your dog quickly learns that the sound only occurs when he barks, and he thereby learns to not bark.

If you have a neighbor dog that is barking, and is within the twenty yards, you can use the bark off to train your neighbors dog too.

Currently, you can get Two Barkoff dog bark trainers for the price of $10 usd plus shipping and handling.

Similar training devices such as anti-barking collars run up to $70, so the Barkoff is a real bargain.

I was on the Ehousehub Twitter this morning and I came across some really cool home improvement blog posts. One in particular was the home improvement blog post, Effective swimming Pool Landscape Design Tips . Reading the post inspired me to go and take a video of my own pool landscaping. Now I did not do our swimming pool landscape design, since we only bought our current home less than three years ago. However, I have worked as a landscape contractor, so I do know that our landscaping, especially around the pool is pretty nice.

The Plants are spaced very nicely, and there seems to be something blooming at all times of the usuable swimming pool season. I think it is really important that when you are out enjoying the pool, you can enjoy the natural surroundings.

Since our pool is located in a very remote area, we don’t require a privacy hedge like many pool owners might desire. I have seen many pools that are surrounded by a tall hedge of arbs or bushes. Ours is just surrounded by our yard, which is then surrounded by fields.

When doing your swimming pool landscaping, as with most landscaping, keep in mind that your mature landscape design will not reach its maximum growth for 2-3 years, so be sure that plants are given ample space to grow. Most landscape contractors have landscape design software that allows them to put in many different arrangements of plants to see what the landscape design will look like when all the plants have reached their maximum growth. This also will allow you to see what a variety of landscape designs will look like around your swimming pool.

Questions to ask your Swimming Pool Landscape Contractor

How many years until the plants mature?

Are the plants hardy enough to withstand pool chemicals?

Will there be plants blooming for the entire swimming pool season?

When do you need to do pruning?

How often do you need to mulch?

Watering instructions

Fertilizing instructions

The Garden Groom my cordless Black and Decker hedge trimmer is not. It’s a far better than the corded hedge trimmer I had been using prior to getting the cordless hedge trimmer for Christmas this past Christmas. Last year I must have cut a good half dozen cords while prunning my hedges with the old corded hedge trimmer.

When I first saw the Garden Groom, I instantly fell in love with it. Sure it has a cord, but it is nearly impossible to cut your cord with the Garden Groom..watch the video on Seentontvexpress by clicking the Garden Groom link at the beginning of the post and you will be amazed. Sure you could go out and buy a gas trimmer or a battery powered hedge trimmer like I got fro Christmas, but it still wouldn’t suck up all the trimmings…way cool..

Do you own a Garden Groom?

What do you think of your Garden Groom?

Tie the electric cord in a granny knot to help keep it from coming un plugged.

I put the cord over my shoulder to keep it out of the tines.

Use a bright colored electric cord.

Other Mantis Tiller Tips

Pull the tiller through the soil as it tills, don’t let it go forward throw the soil.

Be sure to clean out debris from the tines after using..only do so when it is off or un-plugged for electric models.

Be sure to grease your Mantis Tiller as directed by the Mantis factory. I grease our electric Mantis Tiller yearly.
